3 Films

By far the toughest one... How can a film freak decides on films!? Before starting this list, let me give you a little background- From my 6th Semester in BE onwards, I am watching movie a day (almost). I specially love fantasy and Sci-fi movies and not a big fan of romantic ones. Most of the comedy movies bores me and I always look for 'it' factor in a movie. So common movies won't do it for me.
Choosing 3 films out of a huge database of movies is a humongous task, so I though who not 'cheat' a bit! I am going to put name of three movies which comes in my mind without putting a great thought and lets see what is the outcome. It may be little biased, but these movies must be among my top 10 list.

1. Lord of the Rings (Trilogy)

This trilogy made off masterpiece from Sir J.R.R. Tolkien, is by far my all time favorite. A well written, well executed with great screen play, amazing special effects, great story and equally well acted. For me, it is the day modern classic among movies. I have seen this series number of times and every time it has something new to offer. It is a great fun in watching extended version of this movie back-to-back over weekend (total  12 hours), I have done it couple of times and wish to do it again!!!

I know I mentioned in the beginning that I am not a big fan of romantic movies, and I am definitely not!! But this movie has its own magical effect. I rented this movie as no other option was available, and Oh Boy! I was surprised, shocked and emotional after watching this flick based on novel of same name by Nicholas Sparks. A must watch for anyone and everyone, this is a movie that truly stands out. It shows that simplicity, if presented in a simple way could be very charming.

3. The Matrix trilogy-

From fantasy to romance and finally to Sci-fi! An out-of-the-box thinking some of the greatest special effects of the time and great actors makes a movie special, and this movie has everything to offer. This movie is like old wine, it grows on you with time and stays forever.

Finally, in my concluding remarks I must repeat that these three were among my top 10 list. I will not be able to sleep if I won't add few more names along with these three-
12 Angry Men
The Godfather
A Wednesday
Rang De Basanti
X-Men series
One flew over Cuckoo's nest
The bucket list
Up in the air
Back to the future
Schindler's list
The great debaters
Black
... and a never ending list!

Dilli 6

I must say if you have a bit of common sense and understanding of the visual signs then go and watch this movie. India times, Taran Adarsh, Khalid Md. all have lost control over their mind as they are giving such a poor ratings to this master piece. I totally agree with them that this movie has very weak ending, but still looking at the brighter side and forgiving Rakeysh Mehra for inducting Amitabh and Abhishek conversation in the end... this movie is simply great. It is not among the path breaking like RDB but still it has all those elements that make you watch this movie. This time not any spoiler for this movie, just watch it and judge it, specially the screenplay and symbolism will definitely make you respect genius inside Rakeysh Mehra, but at the same time Abhishek is a negative point in this movie (Yes! I... the die heart fan of Abhi is saying that), he acted on extremes in this movie... sometimes very good and sometimes very bad, Sonam has something in her which in noticeable in this movie, all supporting cast is simply great the they leave more then expectation.
I will give it 3.5*.

P.S.- Raghuvir Yadav was disappointing on the other hand good to see Om Puri using mind while selecting role.

Ghajini... lets change the mood

Its been a long time since we have seen some good action movie is Indian Cinema, I think the wait is over with Ghajini. It was the time of 90's when the action movies were at the prime spot of the Indian cinema with the action icons like Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Ajay Devgan etc. After that this place was well taken by new stream of comedy and light entertainment cinema. After the success of Ghajini, I think this time will come back. I was happy to see the recent trends in Indian Cinema and some really good story lines and different trends in the cinema, with the release of Ghajini I see some changes in the forth coming newline cinema.

Well, bringing back my thoughts on the track of my review of this movie, Amir Khan movie never needs any review in terms of acting and technical aspect. I would see, it was a really nice movie and keep you going with its fast pace, a well written story and wonderful screen play. I must admit that its hard to digest three hours movie these days, and there was enough room to cut the size of the movie by 30 min. with cut in the songs and some of the scenes, but still it never feel like a burden for a hardcore 'desi' fan. The background score of the movie looks like a part of the movie. The screen play and story is just well written (or copied) in the movie and the love story and the action in the movie just complement each other.

A 'Wonderful' Wednesday....

What a movie!!!
Superb, fantastic, mind blowing....
Acting- 9/10
Direction- 9/10
Movie- 9/10
Dialogue- 9/10

This movie has proved again that India has got some talent, this movie has proved that we do have some original ideas, we do have good actors and we do have nice directors!!!

It was really good to see the true talents of actors like Anupam and Nasir, which we hidden behind the glamorous casting and crappy comic characters. Hates off to duo!!! I can frankly say that after a long time I have seen a bollywood movie that has fixed me on my couch.... I really didn't know when the whole time has passed watching this fast paced and well made movie.

Cheers,

No Country for Old Man

Its movie time, yesterday I watched a movie. Its for the very first time in an American theater. I really missed those comments and shouts that I had in Indore.

Well, lets talk about movie first. Let me summarize the movie in short-

Overall Rating- 9/10
Acting- 9/10
Direction- 9/10
Cinematography- 10/10

So its a nice deal to go and watch the movie, the movie is full for crime and suspense but its not like the other movies in this category. I was motivated to watch this movie after reading some critical reviews (Most of them rated it as one of the best movie of year). This movie is not for those who expect happy ending or win of good over bad. The best thing about the movie is it shocks you many time, and end is one of the most abrupt end I have ever seen. In the whole theater everyone was sitting and waiting for some more to come even after the movie is ended (including me :-)).

I still need to figure out the end, but its really fun watching the whole movie. The best part is the intensity of the characters in the movie. Each and every parson just fits the character and gave the best performance, kudos!!! It includes the best psychotic character I have seen in my entire life (played by Javier Bardem). Also, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin were simply came out as a great surprise with their outstanding performance.

Overall... from my side its a must watch movie, if you are looking for some serious and intense stuff.
